Glasgow This quote, in other words, is talking about the importance of setting goals and knowing what exactly you are working towards. I agree with this because setting goals and acknowledging that you have goals is really motivating. I, for example, set goals for myself and work hard to meet all of them. Sometimes, i don't meet all the goals i expect myself to but that just motivates me to work harder. Last year, during 8th grade, i set multiple goals for myself. Some of them were, to get good grades, to complete all my work, and to make sure i am a great student. All of those grades were accomplished and i graduated with a high GPA and many of my teachers thanked me and awarded me for being such a great student.  This year, my goals are to get straight A's so i will have a 4.0 GPA and i want to start volunteering. Optometry Technician Duties and Responsibilities: Optometry Technicians work as an assistant for an optometrist. They help them conduct tests and treatments. These technicians usually have a responsibility of testing a patients visual acuity, depth perception, pressure in the eye, color vision, and pupil reflexes. They do this to help the optometrist know what ind of treatment the patient will need.  Salary: An optometry technician makes about $30,000 and over. Educational Requirements: In order to become an optometry technician it is required you have a high school diploma, it is required you have completed training, and it is required to have an Associate's degree.  Demand for this career: This profession is expected to grow about 23% in the following years.  reflection: I think this job would be cool, i have seen this job firsthand and i think its interesting. 

   "Only those live who do good."- Count Leo Tolstoy   This quote, in other words, is saying people that make bad choices don't live to their fullest potential and aren't happy. I partially disagree with this quote because not everyone that makes bad decisions are unhappy. Most people that live a bad life are miserable but very few do not live miserably. I know several people that use drugs, which in some peoples eyes is a bad choice, and they live a happy life, they are intelligent, and get good grades. Also, not everyone that makes bad choices understand why their choices are wrong so they don't even realize and don't feel guilty which helps them live a normal happy life. Another reason why i disagree with this is because many people i know live in discomfort and are unhappy even though they make good choices. For example, my mom. Throughout my moms life she has always chosen the right, she has never been disrespectful, she looked after for herself

Optometrist Duties and Responsibilities: Optometrists are physicians who specialize in the treatment of eye disorders and diseases. They treat vision problems and write prescriptions for both pharmaceuticals and corrective eye glass lenses. They can't perform eye surgery. Most optometrists are in a private practice; however some are employed by hospitals or clinics, and other preform research.     Average Salary:   $90,000 - $150,000 Education: In order to become an optometrist you need to complete a 4 year bachelor's program, you will need a bachelor's degree. Reflection: Becoming an ophthalmologist doesn’t catch my interest because I've been to an ophthalmologist myself and what they do seems very boring to me.

"What's right isn't always popular. What's popular isn't always right." - Albert Einstein I agree with this quote. I agree with this quote because it is true. It is true because many times people get the wrong impression about certain things just because many people are doing it. Making good decisions is very important and i understand that at times it is harder to make good decisions because maybe a group of your friends isn't making bad choices. This quote is telling me that good choices aren't always made by people but it is important for your sake that you choose the right regardless of if anyone is making the same choice. 

Topic: Los Angeles I chose to talk about Los Angeles because I live in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is a city in California. It is towards Southern California. Los Angeles is home of 88 smaller cities within Los Angeles. Also, around 9 sports teams are from Los Angeles. The sports  teams are,  the Anaheim Ducks, the Los Angeles Angels, the Los Angeles Chargers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Dodgers, LA Galaxy, the Los Angeles Kings, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Los Angeles Rams. Also Los Angeles is a very interesting place. Did you know in 1982 oil was discovered where the Dodger Stadium now is. Other random facts are, it is illegal to lick a toad in Los Angeles. The Hollywood  sign originally  said "Hollywoodland" but was later shortened to just "Hollywood". Operating Room Technician Duties and Responsibilities: An operating room technician is in charge of preparing the O.R for surgery and making sure all needed tools are available.  Salary: In 2010 the median salary for a person in this career would make around $40,000 a year.  Education: In order to become an operating room technician you  need to have a high school diploma. You also need to have completed a surgical technology program. Demand or need: This profession is expect to grow up to 20% in the next couple years.  I think this job is really important and necessary but i don't see myself doing it. This job is interesting because you get the chance to observe surgeries and do stuff like that. You also get to learn more and gain more knowledge on the human body.

The Flu 1. One of the biggest health issues taking place right now is the flu, also known as, influenza.  2. The flu is a virus that affects several parts of the body, especially the lungs. nose, and throat.  3. People of all races, genders, and ages are being affected by this powerful virus. People most easily targeted are children, pregnant women, or people with chronic diseases/low immune systems. 4. People are being hospitalized due to this condition and there is also preventative vaccines that are available.  6. This issue affects me because i have to make sure i don't get sick to protect the people in my family that have chronic illnesses.

Nelson  I agree with this quote. I agree with this quote because it is very true. This quote reminds me of peer pressure which is a big problem with people my age, high-schoolers. Many of the people in high school tend to rebel during these years so that means they use drugs, cheat, or are just doing what is not right. It is important that we think about this quote when it comes to making a bad decision. For example, throughout my years of going to school i have always had that kid in the class that is known for cheating. Several times i told this kid that cheating was not the right answer so i would help him. Many people are not used to receiving help which is a big reason as to why i believe people cheat.  I have always been big on doing what is right. Every time that i do

Pharmacy Technician  1. Duties and Responsibilities: A pharmacy technician is in charge of making sure patients understand the medicine they are receiving. They need to have a big understanding of all medical drugs. They need to be able to dispense the proper amount of medicine and have to understand what all of the medicines do.  2. Salary: A pharmacy technician makes over $30,000 yearly which equals to around $14 an hour.  3. Educational Requirements: In order to become a pharmacy technician you need to have a high school diploma. It is also recommended to have some kind of pharmacy technical school that you have attended.  4. Every year more and more pharmacies are being created, as the growth of pharmacies happen so does the need for pharmacy technicians. 5. Reflection: I think this would be an interesting job because i find medicines interesting and i would like to know more about them.   

"You can't be right by doing wrong; you can't be wrong by doing right." - Thomas S. Monson  I believe this quote is not always true. This quote is not always true because there are times when i have done the right thing and that has caused even more problems which made everything worse. i think this quote is true in some cases like when saying the truth about something instead of lying to cover up the lie. I think this quote isn't something all people agree with because some people can't do tell the truth because thy are protecting their family and if they do say the truth then their family will become a target. Donald Trump is the reason i have learned that this quote isn't true. He has caused many people to fear for their families unity that he has caused many people to have to lie to protect  their family and friends. 

Effects of Marijuana 1. Marijuana can affect you in several ways. These ways can be both positive and negative.  Some of the negative affects include: - Rapid heart beat - Increase risk of heart attack  - Increase risk of bleeding - Lowers blood pressure These are only some of the ways that smoking, inhaling, or eating marijuana can affect on your body.   In the past month, 6.5 percent of eighth graders, 16.6 percent of 10th graders and 21.2 percent of 12th graders admitted to marijuana use.  Some of the ways we could help create a non-marijuana using community is by offering help. When using a drug it isn't an easy decision to suddenly decide not to keep doing that drug. They need to slowly get away from it, and even then that isn't easy for some users.  I commit and promise to never use marijuana, ever, regardless of what society says. 

Student Success Statement "Enthusiasm makes the difference." - Dr. Norman Vincent Peale I agree and partially disagree with this. I agree because it is true. Being enthusiastic makes a big difference in the way you see things. Being enthusiastic makes you excited for things and that can help your mental health cope and become happier. I partially disagree though, because sometimes people can not be enthusiastic because they may be depressed or have another mental illness that makes them not feel enthusiastic. I feel like being enthusiastic makes me feel good. This year, i decided to become more enthusiastic. Ever since then i have looked at the positive things in life. I have been doing this for several months now and i feel happy and i think that has really improved my grades. I enjoy coming to school because i am very enthusiastic about it and want to succeed. 

Occupational Therapist Duties and Responsibilities: Occupational therapists help disabled, ill, and injured people practice doing everyday tasks. They do this to help the patient develop, recover, or learn new skills that will help them with everyday tasks.  Salary: Occupational therapists make around $80,000 - $90,000  Educational Requirements: In order to become an Occupation therapist you need to get your Master's Degree in the field of Occupational Therapy. Then you have to get a license to practice doing therapy on people. You will also need experience that you can gain from working with people. Last, they need to have good communication skills.  Demand or need: As the population increases so does the need for therapist to treat people that may need it, every year as the earth gets full of more people the demand increases.  Reflection: Would you want to be one? Medical Career Path: Nursing Home Administrator  Duties and Responsibilities: The job of a nursing home administrator is to oversee staff, to make sure they have all medical supply in stock, to  make sure finances are okay, and to make sure everyone is doing their job correctly.  Salary: A Nursing Home Administrator earns up to around $94,500 Educational Requirements: In order to become a home administrator you need to complete a 4 year bachelor's program and you will have to pass a state licensing exam. If you are a more advanced employer you will require a masters.  Demand or need: The demand for Nursing Home Administrators is going up, it is expected that this profession will grow up to 17% in the next 5 years.  Reflection: I think this would be a cool job because it will help several people. Student Success Statement:  "I wasn't trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right." - Dean Smith This quote is really important and shows how humble Dean Smith was. One of my goals in life is to become a genuine good and happy person and i think this is a good rule to live by. This quote explains how you have to do things because they are right regardless of the outcome of it because doing the right thing will never be a bad choice. I like this quote because its so simple yet so meaningful. Dean Smith was a very smart and good person, i would like to be more like him. I would like to do what is right not for my benefit but simply because it is the right thing to do. Sometimes, i don't always do what is right and i think i should change that. There have been instances in life where i have told the truth about a problem that was going on and i get into trouble because of it but in the end it is the truth and i got what i deserved.

I agree with this quote because i have seen it happen to other people and to me as well. Growing up my goal was to always be a good person and to be genuinely happy. I remember making up 'plans' to  make sure i achieved what i wanted. My first step was to be a good positive person, i noticed that once i had started spreading kindness to everyone, i began being more positive towards myself and got the same response i was giving to myself.
